Research

The CDGA Turfgrass Program conducts research in order to make recommendations to golf course superintendents. Fungicide trials are conducted on Sunshine Golf Course to evaluate product performance to diseases like dollar spot and brown patch.

These trials are conducted on fairway and greens height creeping bentgrass. Additional fungicide research is conducted off-site when other diseases are studied. The CDGA has also studied golf course issues like putting green moss control, a product comparison of biostimulants, and fungicide programming for dollar spot control.

CDGA Reasearch Areas 2010

Sunshine Course is full of research and testing. Dr. Randy Kane set up this outdoor laboratory with many turfgrass species and varieties. In 2009 we replaced three varieties trials on the course and installed an additional tall fescue variety trial beside our building. Below is a map of our facility

Our practice putting green is composed of a replicated variety trial and strips of varieties for long term evaluation. The varieties were seeded in 2002.
