This year snow mold was not a big issue but isolated to certain areas. This is gray snow mold.
A closer look at gray snow mold and you can find the pink colored sclerotia, on the tip of the pen and around it.
The other snow mold that is most often seen is pink snow mold or more recently called Microdochium patch. Notice the pink color surrounding the dead tissue.
Summer patch is usually found in areas that were sodded about 2 years ago. This is a root pathogen and doesn't show symptoms till the soil begins to dry.
